What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Hardee’s

Hardee’s Review (Tallahassee, FL)

By William Kristoph

Are you shocked that I mention a Tallahassee area Hardee’s? They’re as rare as a unicorn, but worth the search. My family headed up to Hardee’s way out on U.S. 27 for some breakfast treats a few weeks ago. As usual, the trip is worth it. Hardee’s staff is super friendly and fast. The restaurant is very clean, despite having a lot of customers coming through. The food is the hot and surprisingly fresh. Too bad it’s not 0 calories and healthy, right?

Blue Bell Review – Magic Cookie Bar

Magic Cookie Bar Review

By William Kristoph

Blue Bell’s newest flavor for National Flavor Month is Magic Cookie Bar. I have not been lucky enough to eat an actual Magic Cookie Bar that I can recall, but Magic Cookie Bar Ice Cream makes me want to whip up a batch in the near future. Magic Cookie Bar lives up to the hype. It’s smooth and sweet, with plenty of bits of graham cracker, dark chocolate and pecans. The caramel flavor and condensed milk shine through.

Check it out:

What Should Tallahassee Eat? – BurgerFi

BurgerFi (Tallahassee, FL) Review

I decided to try BurgerFi to see what the hype is about. A short trip over to the old Miracle Plaza with a small adventure involving trying to find a parking space (look behind the buildings) and I was ready to head in and order. Inside, I had a few minutes to look around while I waited in line. BurgerFi follows the seemingly standard upscale fast food burger joint decor. Metal, wood and the unfinished look flooring complete with music that is a bit too loud.

Yes, I’m getting old and cranky. No, it has absolutely nothing to do with the burgers.

Blue Bell Review – Red, White and Blue Bell

Was Red, White & Blue Bell the bomb or a bomb?

By William Kristoph

I saw a half-gallon of Red, White & Blue Bell at Publix last week and decided to give it a try. The carton and the Blue Bell website description had me thinking of the 4th of July and a childhood full of running down the ice cream truck looking for a Bomb Pop.  I fully expected Red, White & Blue Bell to surpass the Bomb Pop’s patriotic colors that make me think of fireworks, our founding fathers, Wiffleball games that last into the night, water fights, American flags and anything else that screams “America! F-Yeah!”

What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Gaines Street Pies

Gaines Street Pies (Tallahassee, FL) Review

By William Kristoph

A couple of weekends ago, my wife and I decided to try some pizza at Gaines Street Pies.  Ordering was quick and easy. The waitress was friendly and we had the entire place to ourselves prior to an afternoon FSU Baseball game. I went for “The Saucy Minx” and my wife thought the “McBurger” sounded great so we went halfsies on a pizza. We chatted over a couple of beverages, took a window seat, checked out the comics on the dining tables and waited a few minutes for our pizza.
