Forbes named Mr. Met the Number 1 most popular mascot because he’s a “Veteran, kid-friendly mascot (that) has taken on a greater role during the Mets’ troubled years.”

I have to admit that I’m a bit sore about the Mets throwing Mr. Met under the bus during the 1970s and 1980s. I missed out Mr. Met in my childhood because of some manager’s decision to bail on a kid friendly mascot. However, I am thankful that Lois Kaufmann finally stirred up enough support to bring him back in the 1990s. My future children thank her!
