Is it obvious that I like to bake? (Hint: My header on the site is a coffee cake for a reason). I’m partial to cakes and cookies mostly, but there’s nothing quite like homemade bread. About 4 years ago I was in a routine of making homemade white bread each weekend. It wasn’t terribly hard, but I never totally got the hang of it either. The bread tasted good, but I never got the rise I wanted. For various reasons, I gave up on making bread and went back to buying it at the store.
Thanks to my mother-in-law, I’m back to making bread each week and it’s better than anything I’ve tried before. She was kind enough to give me an Emeril by T-fal 3-Pound Automatic Bread Machine. It’s awesome. It kneads the dough very well (the dual paddles to a great job), it handles up to a 3 lb loaf (which is huge so I found out) and it has a ton of different settings to choose from for different types of bread. So far I’ve made a couple of white breads, a bunch of whole wheat bread (with King Arthur Flour
) and few brioche breads (both cinnamon and chocolate chip). They come out consistently with a very wonderful crust.
Seeing is believing though, right? Check out the Chocolate Chip Brioche I made in it:
