What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Bruegger’s Bagels

By William Kristoph

Sorry guys, I forgot to take a picture before I gobbled up the bagels with friends. You’ll have to take my word for it on this particular review.

Bruegger’s Bagels (3211 Mahan Dr – Tallahassee, FL) Review

On Sunday, my wife and I had some friends stop by from Texas that were on their way to Tampa. I headed over to the newest Bruegger’s Bagels location on Mahan Drive for a baker’s dozen and a couple of tubs of cream cheese. After a quick stop at Publix, I walked in to Bruegger’s Bagels.

The store is bathed in light and bright colors. The dining area is up front and the layout flows from left to right. I don’t like how the counter and menu signs are hidden by the decorations and faux wall that separates the dining area from the counter, but the overall feel was bright and clean. A young woman behind the counter took my order for baker’s dozen and quickly placed my choices (Plain, Everything, Cinnamon Sugar and Asiago) into a paper bag and handed it to me. I asked her about the cream cheese with the combo and she pointed me to the refrigerated cases where I could grab them. I paid and headed home.

What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Lenny’s Sub Shop

By William Kristoph

Lenny’s Sub Shop (Tallahassee, FL) Review

I took a ride over to Lenny’s Sub Shop to try to satisfy another Philly Cheesesteak craving. Lenny’s is on the corner of 6th and Thomasville Road. I suggest approaching from 6th rather than making a left from Thomasville Road if you’re headed there. When I entered, friendly employees greeted me. I took a moment to review the menu and decided to go with the #11 Philly Cheesesteak straight up with a bag of Lenny’s Baked BBQ Chips and a drink.

What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Jersey Mike’s Subs

Jersey Mike’s Subs (Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL) Review

Number 17 - Jersey Mike's Famous Philly

Sure, it might not look like much on a plate, but Jersey Mike’s Famous Philly has good bread, tasty meat and some awesome cheese sauce. It’s very good.

About one week ago, I finally tried Jersey Mike’s Subs for the first time. I took a short trip over to their new location at 3122 Mahan Drive, walked up to the counter and placed a To-Go order for a #17 Jersey Mike’s Famous Philly and a #56 Big Kahuna Cheese Steak. I went with the regular size on both subs, since the biggest one looked like it was huge based on the size of the bread. About ten minutes later I was ready to hit the road with my order.

What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Yogurt Mountain

Yogurt Mountain Review (Tallahassee, FL)

After my quick dinner before FSU Softball’s Opening Day last Friday, I wanted something sweet. Normally I prefer ice cream over frozen yogurt. Last Friday, though, I wanted to try out Yogurt Mountain since I had heard good things about it. I checked out Yogurt Mountain and was pleasantly surprised.

What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Voodoo Dog

Voodoo Dog Review (Tallahassee, FL)

Looking for Tallahassee’s best hot dog? Look no further than the funky little Voodoo Dog in the All Saints District near Florida State University. I finally checked it out last week after numerous recommendations from friends, co-workers and Twitter followers. Voodoo Dog definitely lived up to its reputation of being fast and very tasty.

When I arrived at 4:30 on Friday, Voodoo Dog was basically empty. Instead of looking through the huge blackboard behind the counter trying to figure out what I wanted to eat, I asked the girl at the counter. She recommended The Jefferson, a Voodog Dog (a bacon-wrapped hot dog) with Mac n Cheese on top. I ordered that and some cheese fries and sat down at a table to mess around on Twitter.
