What Should Tallahassee Eat? – Gaines Street Pies

Gaines Street Pies (Tallahassee, FL) Review

By William Kristoph

A couple of weekends ago, my wife and I decided to try some pizza at Gaines Street Pies.  Ordering was quick and easy. The waitress was friendly and we had the entire place to ourselves prior to an afternoon FSU Baseball game. I went for “The Saucy Minx” and my wife thought the “McBurger” sounded great so we went halfsies on a pizza. We chatted over a couple of beverages, took a window seat, checked out the comics on the dining tables and waited a few minutes for our pizza.

The pizza arrived hot and fresh. It looked great. I dove into a slice of The Saucy Minx it disappointed me. The crust was bland and the bell peppers were hard to find. My wife enjoyed her McBurger side of things. I tried a bit of her pizza and it was definitely spot delivering the flavors that the menu promised.

Overall, I appreciate the effort, but Gaines Street Pies just wasn’t my thing. I might give it (or the new Midtown Pies) a shot in the future with something more standard, like pepperoni or plain cheese.

I rated Gaines Street Pies “I don’t like it” on Urbanspoon. But, as always don’t just take my word for it. Try it for yourself.

  1. My one experience with Gaines Street Pies was solid. I had a slice of their pepperoni and thought it was pretty good. Sorry your pie missed the mark.

I actually went to Midtown Pies for lunch today.
