Tupelo’s Bakery and Cafe Review
By William Kristoph
I took a spin over to Monticello, FL one recent morning to meet a few friends for a quick bite to eat at Tupelo’s Bakery & Cafe. Monticello is a really nifty little downtown area that is worth a visit if you like a quick country drive from the Tallahassee area. I went with a couple of recommendations from my friends to take back to Tallahassee with me and sat down to dig in to my breakfast, a Glazed Cinnamon Roll. How was everything? Awesome!
Glazed Cinnamon Roll – For a quick breakfast I went with the Glazed Cinnamon Roll and a cup of coffee. The cinnamon roll had the right balance of sweetness and the vanilla glaze was a nice touch. This is not an in your face cinnamon roll like you get at the mall. This is obviously a homemade sweet treat that hits the spot. I suggest pairing it with a cup of coffee, because the coffee at Tupelo’s was great. It was so good I actually drank it BLACK. Me. Can you believe that?
Caramel Pecan Bar – I took a couple of sweets back to Tallahassee to share with my wife. First up was the highly recommended Caramel Pecan Bar. It was described to me as, “The best part of a pecan pie.” I’m not a huge fan of pecan pie, but I’m a huge fan of the Caramel Pecan Bar. To me it was like a gooey butter cake but even better. I’m salivating just thinking about it and I wish I would have bought a few more.
Triple Chocolate Brownie – Another fantastic confection. The Triple Chocolate Brownie was best described by my wife, “It’s half brownie and half fudge with drizzle. This is really good.” Have I mentioned I’m salivating right now?
Tupelo’s Bakery and Cafe in Monticello has excellent food and it’s not just baked goods. My friends chowed down on breakfast burritos that they said were excellent. If you’re in the area and need a bite for breakfast or lunch I strongly recommend Tupelo’s Bakery and Cafe. I rated Tupelo’s Bakery & Cafe “I like it” on Urbanspoon. Check it out!
