Bamboo Wok – Quick And Tasty Chinese Food For Tallahassee
What Bamboo Wok lacks in atmosphere, it makes up for with fresh and bold flavor. Bamboo Wok is my favorite Chinese Takeout restaurant in Tallahassee. Seriously, take this food home, bust open the quart container and stuff yourself while you check out a movie from your own couch. Bamboo Wok is perfect for a movie night at home. The staff is always super quick, the food is always freshly cooked and it’s reasonably priced. The only downside for some people is that they don’t deliver. Either way, Bamboo Wok is worth the drive if you’re on the east or southeast side of Tallahassee.
Appetizers – Egg Rolls and Krab Rangoon
Egg rolls are why I love Chinese food. At Bamboo Wok, they’re fried to crispy perfection and loaded with cabbage, carrots and whatever else goes in there. The inside is never soggy and the outside is crispy and hot. I’ve tried at least 5 different places in Tallahassee and Bamboo Wok’s Egg Rolls always come out on top.
I also love Krab Rangoon and its creamy sweet center. Bamboo Wok doesn’t disappoint here either. A serving of 8 Krab Rangoon is $3.95. How can you beat that? They’re a nice sweet way to offset the saltiness of many of the other dishes and are worth a look if you like Krab Rangoon.
Main Course – Veggie Lo Mein & Fried Rice
My gut reaction to Veggie Lo Mein was always “Why do so many places screw this up so easily?” I seriously don’t get it, but all too often I find Veggie Lo Mein take-out is unappetizing. At Bamboo Wok the Veggie Lo Mein is great. The saltiness is the right amount, the noodles are not greasy and the veggies aren’t mush. It’s an excellent treat. The plain fried rice makes a great side to this dish (I wish they offered Egg Fried Rice).
I rated Bamboo Wok “I like it” on Urbanspoon. It’s a great option for Chinese takeout on the east side of Tallahassee.
