Thanks to the Florida State Baseball team, I’ve been able to dine over on the FSU campus side of town over the last 10 days. For the second time in less than two weeks, I checked out Hobbit American Grill on Pensacola St. Both times were great. Hobbit is an oldie but a goody in Tallahassee and it’s a great option to grab some good bar food before a game.
Trip 1
Normally I’m not an appetizer guy, but I split an order of Potato Skins on this trip. They were fantastic. Not only were they hot, but the potato was fluffy and the toppings were nicely melted and placed. I haven’t had a potato skin that good in quite a while.
For an early dinner I went with a Chicken Philly and Fries. It was great. The bread was chewy, the chicken was cooked well and all of the onions and peppers melted in with the cheese nicely. The added bonus were the fries, which were hot and fresh and not at all greasy.
Good food combined with good service made it one of those meals that was unexpectedly satisfying.
Trip 2

Turkey Bacon Club & Straight Fries at Hobbit American Grill (Westside) in Tallahassee, FL. Photo by William Kristoph
This time I skipped the appetizer (even though Fried Pickle Chips were calling my name) and went straight to dinner. I went with the Turkey Bacon Club (pictured) and Straight Fries. Other than being just ever so slightly heavy-handed on the mayonnaise, it was fantastic and a great start to an evening of baseball. The fries were super hot yet again, but not greasy, and they were well salted with seasoned salt.
Relatively cheap, good service and a happy full stomach. What more could I ask?

Thanks for the kind comment oh great #1 Tallahassee Urbanspoon Pro TDO / WCTV blogger! Sweet Tea & Bourbon inspired me to do some reviews here.
Your Pie is tomorrow, then things will die down. No more FSU baseball to drive my eating habits. That just means I’ll have to start sharing some recipes.
Ha! I guess. I’m still waiting for a check for my writing.
Nice! I saw your tweet about it. Looking forward to seeing the pics and reading your (longer) thoughts.
Recipes are good!
